Robot (1980)

This robot was created for the Squat Theatre play "Mr. Dead & Mrs. Free" in 1980

Made out of scrap metal, on a remote controlled Sherman tankbase, 12V motorcycle battery, tape recorder connected to the same remote control overriding one of the directional motion, headlights.

The robot moved to the stage from behind the audience at the end of the first act. The two soldiers on the stage watch as the robot approaches, but the curtain closes as it reaches the stage. The robot recites "El Dorado" by E. A. Poe, and announces the next number of the show before disappearing behind the curtain.
